Since 1994 our volunteer surf lifesavers have been visiting schools in rural and remote areas to educate primary school students about safety at the beach.

Our Beach to Bush program began as a result of research which highlighted that 50% of people rescued from the surf live more than 50km from the beach.

Last year’s presenters found it to be a thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable experience.

“Super rewarding, seeing all the kids from tiny remote towns be so excited to learn about the beach and how to stay safe,” said a 2019 Beach to Bush program presenter.

“I love the idea of teaching surf awareness to country schools - possibly saving a life,” said another presenter.

We’re aiming for a record reach this year by extending our invitation to all rural and remote areas in NSW.

At this stage we are seeking expressions of interest only for participation as a presenter.

The SLSNSW Community Education Team will contact you by the end of July 2020 to confirm your participation in the program and to confirm dates.

This years tours are scheduled to commence at the end of October 2020.

If you are enthusiastic and passionate about Surf Life Saving, and prepared to spend a week in the bush spreading the beach safety message, register your interest today

Surf Life Saving NSW thanks the NSW Government and Your local club for their ongoing support which makes this program possible.
