The ALS NSW is a subsidiary of Surf Life Saving NSW who exist to uphold the core principles and values of Surf Life Saving in this commercially competitive market. The operations of the ALS support and contribute to lifesaving activities in NSW.

The ALS provides a comprehensive integrated service including the provision of highly qualified lifeguards, lifeguard supervisors, management staff, the latest surf rescue gear and equipment, onsite Surf Safety Education delivery and supporting the Coastal Accommodation Network statewide. They also place a significant investment in the extensive radio communication network, as well as being a core unit of the Surf Rescue Emergency Response System; which provides Emergency Services with a single point of call to task Surf Life Saving resources to coastal emergencies.
