Lifesaving Skills Development Program

The SLSNSW Lifesaving Skills Development Program is open to patrolling lifesavers who are interested in developing and enhancing their lifesaving skills and experiencing a taster pathways in SLSNSW. The program will offer skill development both in the water and on the sand, and aims to build the confidence and capability of lifesavers across the state though fun scenario-based training and hands on learning.  

Program Focus/Content: 

The Lifesaving Skills Development Program (1 day program) will focus on: 

  • Enhancing Bronze Medallion skills (board paddling, rescue techniques, radio, basic first aid) 
  • Awareness of advanced awards  
  • Focus on non-positional leadership 
  • Increasing confidence to make rescues, and excitement and passion for surf lifesaving 

The Advanced Lifesaving Skills Development Program (1.5 day program) will focus on: 

  • Enhancing lifesaving skills (board paddling, rescue techniques, radio, first aid, advanced resuscitation,) 
  • Awareness of Rescue Services pathways 
  • Focus on crisis leadership 
  • Increasing confidence to make rescues, and excitement and passion for surf lifesaving
