Reporting to the UAV Operations Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to use your excellent communication, operations administration, data collection and report writing skills to further the aims of the Australian UAV Service.

Surf Life Saving NSW is the state’s primary water safety and rescue organisation and one of the largest volunteer movements in the country. We support more than 77,000 members in 129 clubs to serve the community through the provision of beach patrol services, coastal emergency response, training and education, sports and junior development.

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Administrative Officer provides high level administrative and operational support to the UAV Operations Coordinator to achieve the goals and objectives of the various UAV programs SLSNSW & SLSS undertake. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Administration including ensuring that recruitment is opened within a timely period, applications are passed onto the UAV Operations Coordinator for review, and financial documents and letters of employment are sent out and filed once completed within the appropriate employment system; updating of pilot hours; bookings for trainings and meetings, collation of expressions of interview for training and piloting, overseeing rostering, stocktake of materials and assist in maintain the pilot database;
  • Flight data/Reporting including the collation of statistical information; the management of file footage and document storage with each UAV kit, and the liaison with Media & Communication team with information required for stories and releases;
  • Operations responsibilities include assisting the UAV Operations Coordinator in ensuring the various projects have the required UAV pilots, together with the collation of employment information and records.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
  • A background within Surf Life Saving and / or thorough understanding of lifesaving operations;
  • An understanding of radio technology / equipment;
  • Previous experience working with volunteers;
  • Experience with flying UAV’s &/or a RePL certificate;
  • Business development or client services experience.
