Reporting to the COO, this role is responsible for all generalist HR activities including Recruitment, Learning & Development, Performance Management and Remuneration (including recommendations and award reviews). This role provides expertise, advice, and develops initiatives to enhance employee engagement and performance levels. It is a ‘top to bottom’ role.

Surf Life Saving NSW is the state’s primary water safety and rescue organisation and one of the largest volunteer movements in the country. We support more than 77,000 members in 129 clubs to serve the community through the provision of beach patrol services, coastal emergency response, training and education, sports and junior development.

Some of the key duties will include
  • Contributing to the SLSNSW strategic goals and objectives;
  • Identifying and developing opportunities for SLSNSW as they relate to people and culture;
  • Providing expert HR advice to managers and staff on all matters of recruitment, performance management, employee relations, policies and procedures;
  • Overseeing all aspects of SLSNSW’s recruitment process.
About you
  • Experience working in a similar HR generalist role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or similar
  • Confidence, maturity and the ability to make sound judgments and solve problems
  • Motivated self-starter with proven initiative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, strong team collaborator, interested in mentoring and coaching
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organisational skills and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Attention to detail;
  • Strong computer skills in a number of Microsoft applications and experience with HRIS Recruitment software;
  • Proven ability to interpret legislation, regulations and awards together with policies and procedures
  • Background knowledge of Workplace Relations, Work Health and Safety and Workers Compensation laws and practices.
