SLSNSW is seeking applications for the position of Digital Content Producer within our Communications and Engagement department.

Surf Life Saving NSW is the state’s primary water safety and rescue organisation and one of the largest volunteer movements in the country. We support more than 76,000 members in 129 clubs to serve the community through the provision of beach patrol services, coastal emergency response, training and education, sports and junior development.

About the Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented communicator with a passion for finding and telling stories and creating engaging digital content in all forms.

The Digital Content Producer is responsible for sourcing and generating engaging digital, video and written content for distribution to media and through SLSNSW’s online and social media platforms. The role supports media activities which strengthen the profile of SLSNSW with members, partners, government and the community. 

Responsibilities Include
  • Source and generate engaging content to deliver through the SLSNSW’s online, print and social channels;
  • Create multimedia content, including volunteer stories, internal announcements, event promotions, material to support educational programs, partnership activations and commercial activities etc to be shared through a variety of platforms;
  • Shoot and edit video content;
  • Gather content at media opportunities, launches, member and sports events, including coordinating volunteers;
  • Produce short form written content for online and social media;
  • Engage with volunteers to gather and produce content for distribution to media in response to incidents, activities and events;
  • Upload content to websites or social media platforms;
  • Provide general communications support within the department.
About You

We are looking for a skilled creative with a passion for story-telling, who has likely been working in a similar role and enjoys engaging with audiences through video and content creation. 

We need someone who can hit the ground running, who can identify opportunities to promote Surf Life Saving and its volunteers through the media and our digital channels and can work quickly.

You will ideally have a good understanding of how community/sporting organisations or emergency services operate and know how to grow audiences and engagement.  

Skills and experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Digital Media or other relevant studies
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role creating digital content for online environments
  • Video capture, video editing and production skills
  • Ability to write short form content for social media, video scripting etc
  • Sound use of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Sound organisational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and produce content quickly
  • Be organised, flexible with a positive and collaborative approach to working within a team
  • An understanding of Surf Life Saving

Consistent with the nature of volunteer community or sporting organisations, the successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work on weekends and outside office hours at times to fulfil the requirements of this position.
