Branch Administration Assistant – Sydney Northern Beaches

Reporting to the SLSSNB Branch Manager, you will have the opportunity to use your strong organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills to support the success of the Branches and related Clubs.

Surf Life Saving NSW is the state’s primary water safety and rescue organisation and one of the largest volunteer movements in the country. We support more than 77,000 members in 129 clubs to serve the community through the provision of beach patrol services, coastal emergency response, training and education, sports and junior development.

The purpose of this role is to provide administrative assistance and support to the Branch and Clubs within the Branch in order to achieve their goals and objectives. 

Key responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:

Branch Administration

  • Assist the Branch Manager in the maintenance of Branch financial payments/receipts and reporting
  • Assist with ensuring Branch communications channels (e.g. web site, newsletters, social media, circulars etc) are maintained and accurate
  • Assist with the delivery of communications to external audiences as required (e.g. through mail outs, social media placements etc.)
  • Assist the Branch Manager/ administration team in the maintenance of Branch financial payments/receipts and reporting
  • Assist the Lifesaving and Education Officer with administrative duties.

Member Services

  • Assist with arranging Junior Lifesaver of the Year, Awards of Excellence, Youth camps, First Aid courses and other Member Services activities

Meetings & Events

  • Maintain a calendar of events for Branch activities
  • Assist the Branch Manager to prepare and circulate committee & sub-committee meeting agendas and minutes
  • Assist the Branch Manager to Co-ordinate the Branch AGM, Branch Executive meetings and Branch Awards of Excellence.

Club Administration Assistance

  • Assist clubs in the lodgement of their annual SLSNSW compliancy lodgements and with administration-related enquiries
  • Organise appropriate training sessions for clubs including Governance and Administration.

  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Well-developed oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate to stakeholders at any level
  • Proven ability to work independently and part of a small autonomous team
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and multi-task
  • Sound interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Sound planning and organisational skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel (within the branch and occasionally to SLSNSW HQ) when required
  • Unrestricted Motor Vehicle Licence required
  • Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and respond effectively to changing needs and situations.
