Cancellation of the 2020 Sharkskin NSW IRB Season

Message from Donald van Keimpema, SLSNSW Director of Surf Sports

After much deliberation and discussion, it is with great disappointment to advise that the 2020 NSW IRB Premiership and State Championships have now been cancelled.

The decision to cancel the season is not one that has been lightly considered. The skills associated with IRB racing, no doubt build capability and nurture superior competency between the red and yellow flags across our beaches.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the clubs, teams, coaches, managers, officials, host clubs and the safety team for your unwavering commitment and dedication to working towards making this season a possibility.

Our members safety will always remain our first priority. The outbreak in Victoria and the high alert now imposed on NSW means that we cannot remain confident that a gathering of this size would be in the best interest of our members safety and wellbeing, regardless of the safety provisions and measures SLSNSW planned.

Thank you for your understanding and acknowledgement that this is the right decision at this stage of the pandemic.
