This course is aimed at individuals working in the electrical industry who wish to gain low voltage switchboard rescue and resuscitation skills for their workplace. The course is specifically designed for participants requiring qualifications as Safety Observers for live low voltage switch board work. A person completing this course is able to conduct a Low Voltage Rescue of a victim and carry out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

  • Applying relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measures
  • Inspecting and placing rescue equipment
  • Identifying and labelling the isolation point
  • Performing a rescue from a low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Legal issues
  • Infection control
  • DRSABCD action plan
  • Managing the unconscious breathing casualty
  • Resuscitation (CPR) Including Defibrillation

The course is assessed through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in the workplace. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.

*Please note, it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the following unit of competency:

  • UETTDRRF06 - Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

One (1) year from date of course. It is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council that you update your CPR skills every 12 months.
