The Membership UAV Officer provides high level administrative and operational support to the UAV Operations Coordinator to achieve the goals and objectives of the UAV program.

Surf Life Saving NSW is the state’s primary water safety and rescue organisation and one of the largest volunteer movements in the country. We support more than 77,000 members in 129 clubs to serve the community through the provision of beach patrol services, coastal emergency response, training and education, sports and junior development.

The Membership UAV Officer is responsible for assisting to build capability in UAV operations across the SLS membership in general.

Reporting to the UAV Operations Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to use your excellent communication, operations administration, data collection and report writing skills to further the goals of the UAV Program which is to assist and build Branch and Club capacity in UAV operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Flight data/ DPI reporting including the collation and recording of statistical information in a database to compile into reports; effective use of the flight management system to ensure correct equipment is logged and managed; management of file footage and document storage with each UAV kit; liaison with the Media & Communication team with information required for stories and releases
  • Administration including ensuring assigned tasks are completed within stated timeframes and issues are raised in a proactive manner
  • Operations responsibilities include ensuring the personnel data base is up to date and awards are entered; all UAV Kits at locations are operational; training program participants are advised in advance of their sessions and any post session documentation is provided within the set timeframes.
Essential skills required
  • Well-developed oral and written communications skills (including presentation and report writing)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate to stakeholders at any level
  • Proven ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Excellent computer skills in a number of Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and multi task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel when required
  • Unrestricted Motor Vehicle Licence required
  • Proven ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and Public Holidays.
Desirable skills and knowledge
  • A background within Surf Life Saving and / or thorough understanding of lifesaving operations
  • An understanding of radio technology / equipment
  • Previous experience working with volunteers
  • Experience with flying UAV’s &/or a RePL certificate
