Community Education Content Creator - Temporary Position

Reporting to the Community Education Manager, this temporary role is responsible for the creation of resources, content and guides to be used by school teachers and students.

Surf Life Saving NSW is the state’s primary water safety and rescue organisation and one of the largest volunteer movements in the country. We support more than 76,000 members in 129 clubs to serve the community through the provision of beach patrol services, coastal emergency response, training and education, sports and junior development.

SLSNSWs Community Education Team operates across NSW, facilitating the delivery of beach and water safety education to schools, community groups and other organisations. The team operates in an evidence-based environment, working collaboratively with partner organisations, paid staff, Surf Life Saving Clubs and volunteers to achieve its goals.

About the role

This role is a summer holiday position and will only be required from Monday 13 January 2019 - Friday 24 January 2019. Some flexibility with dates is available for the selected applicant.

Reporting to the Community Education Manager, this role is responsible for the creation of resources, content and guides for use by schools.

Some of the key duties will include
  • Developing and creating lesson plans which will cover a set of subjects areas that will be delivered in schools
  • Utilising a range of digital platforms to create educational content that will be used within schools
  • Work closely with the team and digital companies to develop VR/AR digital projects for implementation to school programs across regional, remote and Western Sydney areas.
What you’ll need
  • NESA registered teacher in NSW (Primary or Secondary)
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and mid-level confidence in digital technologies and creating interactive and engaging programs
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of the NSW school curriculum
  • Personal attributes of flexibility, positivity, energy and self- motivated
  • Working with Children Check verification number (employment, not volunteer)
