Mental Health First Aid  -  Standard 2 Day Course

The Mental Health First Aid - Standard 2 Day Course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. The course curriculum is based on the Mental Health Guidelines and is accredited by Mental Health First Aid Australia.

Any interested adult can attend. Please note this course is not a therapy or support group, rather it is an education course to learn how to give first aid to others.

Prerequisites

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.

CPD 

Most professionals can claim attendance at a MHFA course for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with their industry body.

Cancellation Policy
An application for refund of course fees must be made in writing to Surf Life Saving NSW (Training Division). Where cancellation is made less than five (5) working days prior to the commencement of a course, 50% of the course fees will be charged. Participants who leave before finishing the course or do not commence their course without submitting a written refund request will be charged the full course fees. The Standard Mental Health First Aid course will teach you how to provide initial support to other adults who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence based Action Plan.
This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

  • Non-suicidal self-injury

Note: This course is not a therapy or a support group.

There is no assessment process for this course, but participants can opt for Mental Health First Aider Accreditation through Mental Health First Aid Australia.

Course participants receive a copy of the Standard MHFA Manual, information guides and handouts, and a Certificate of Completion.
